The IELTS Band Calculator computes your Overall Band Score from four skill scores: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The overall is the arithmetic mean rounded to the nearest 0.5.
- 1Average = (Listening + Reading + Writing + Speaking) ÷ 4
- 2Round to nearest 0.5 (e.g. 6.875 rounds to 7.0)
- 3Each skill scored independently on 0–9 scale in whole or half bands
- 4Overall band ranges from 0 (no attempt) to 9 (Expert user)
L 7.5, R 7.0, W 6.5, S 6.5=Average 6.875 rounds to Overall Band 7.0
L 8.0, R 8.0, W 7.0, S 7.0=Average 7.5 rounds to Overall Band 7.5
L 6.0, R 5.5, W 5.5, S 6.0=Average 5.75 rounds to Overall Band 6.0
