Coffee Ratio Calculator

A coffee ratio calculator determines the optimal amount of ground coffee relative to water for different brewing methods. The Specialty Coffee Association recommends a "golden ratio" of 1:16 to 1:18 (coffee:water by weight) as a starting point.

  1. 1Ratio = Coffee weight / Water weight
  2. 2Standard drip: 1:16 (e.g., 30g coffee per 480ml water)
  3. 3Espresso: 1:1.5 to 1:3 (double shot: 18g in → 36–54g out)
  4. 4French press: 1:12 for fuller body; cold brew: 1:4 to 1:8
