Adding fractions combines two or more parts of a whole. The key rule is that fractions must share the same denominator (bottom number) before their numerators (top numbers) can be added. This shared denominator is called the Least Common Denominator (LCD).

Guida passo passo

  1. 1Find the Least Common Denominator (LCD) of both fractions
  2. 2Convert each fraction to an equivalent fraction with the LCD
  3. 3Add the numerators — keep the denominator the same
  4. 4Simplify the result by dividing by the Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
