A binary converter converts numbers between binary (base-2), decimal (base-10), hexadecimal (base-16), and octal (base-8). These number systems are fundamental in computing — computers store all data in binary (0s and 1s).

Trinn-for-trinn guide

  1. 1Binary to decimal: sum each bit × 2^position (from right, starting at 0)
  2. 2Decimal to binary: repeatedly divide by 2 and record remainders
  3. 3Hex uses digits 0–9 and letters A–F (A=10, B=11, ..., F=15)
  4. 41 hex digit = 4 binary bits; 2 hex digits = 1 byte (8 bits)
