🫀Blood Pressure Analyser
Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against artery walls. Systolic (top number) is pressure during heartbeat; diastolic (bottom number) is pressure between beats. Normal: below 120/80 mmHg. The AHA classifies five stages from normal to hypertensive crisis.
💡
Tip: Measure blood pressure after 5 minutes of seated rest, twice per session, in the same arm each time. One reading means very little — trends over many readings are what matter.
- 1Pulse pressure = Systolic − Diastolic
- 2Mean arterial pressure (MAP) = Diastolic + (Pulse pressure / 3)
- 3Normal MAP: 70–100 mmHg
- 4MAP < 60 mmHg → inadequate perfusion to organs
120/80 mmHg=Normal · PP=40 · MAP=93 mmHgIdeal blood pressure
145/95 mmHg=Stage 2 hypertension · PP=50 · MAP=112Medication usually indicated
| Category | Systolic | Diastolic |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | < 120 | < 80 |
| Elevated | 120–129 | < 80 |
| Stage 1 high | 130–139 | 80–89 |
| Stage 2 high | ≥ 140 | ≥ 90 |
| Crisis | > 180 | > 120 |

Fun Fact
Blood pressure naturally follows a circadian rhythm — it dips 10–20% during sleep (dipping) and rises sharply in the morning. This "morning surge" is associated with increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
