A Wi-Fi coverage calculator estimates the number and placement of access points needed to cover a building based on square footage, wall construction, and desired signal strength. Concrete and brick walls attenuate signal by 10–15 dB; a 2.4 GHz router covers ~150 ft in open space, much less through walls.
