Density Converter
Density is mass per unit volume (ρ = m/V). A density converter converts between kg/m³, g/cm³, g/mL, kg/L, lb/ft³, lb/in³, and other units. Water has a density of 1 g/cm³ = 1000 kg/m³ — the reference point for specific gravity.
💡
Tip: To check if an object will float: calculate its average density (total mass / total volume). If it's less than the liquid density, it floats — regardless of shape or total weight.
- 11 g/cm³ = 1 g/mL = 1 kg/L = 1000 kg/m³
- 21 lb/ft³ = 16.018 kg/m³
- 3Specific gravity = density of substance / density of water (dimensionless)
- 4Objects float if their density < liquid density

Fun Fact
The Dead Sea has a water density of about 1.24 g/cm³ due to extreme salt content — humans float effortlessly because the body's average density (~0.97 g/cm³) is lower than the water.
