Why measure at both 1 and 5 minutes?
The 1-minute score indicates immediate adjustment; the 5-minute score predicts long-term outcomes.
What does low Apgar predict?
Very low scores correlate with neonatal complications, but most babies with low 1-minute scores recover to normal by 5 minutes.
