Date Difference Calculator
A date difference calculator finds the number of days, weeks, months, or years between two dates. Used to calculate ages, contract durations, time between events, and project timelines.
💡
Tip: For contract law: "within 30 days" usually means calendar days, not business days. For court deadlines, confirm whether the rule uses calendar or business days and whether the deadline date is included.
- 1Count calendar days: convert both dates to a day number from a fixed epoch, subtract
- 2For years/months: count complete years and months, then remaining days
- 3Leap years must be accounted for (Feb 29 only exists in leap years)
- 4Business days: subtract weekends and optionally public holidays

Fun Fact
The Unix timestamp — used in most computers and the internet — counts seconds since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 UTC. On January 19, 2038, 32-bit Unix timestamps will overflow, potentially causing bugs in older systems. This is the "Year 2038 problem."
