A wedge mechanical advantage calculator determines the force multiplication of a wedge: MA = length ÷ thickness. A thin wedge (long relative to its width) has high MA — a 10 cm long, 1 cm thick wedge (MA=10) converts a 100 N striking force into 1,000 N of splitting force.
