Daily water intake requirements depend on body weight, activity level, climate, and diet. The old "8 glasses a day" (2 litres) rule lacks scientific basis. The European Food Safety Authority recommends 2.5L/day for men and 2.0L/day for women, including water from food (which contributes ~20%).

💡

Tip: You do not need to track water obsessively — thirst is a reliable indicator for most healthy adults. Drink when thirsty, and ensure urine is pale yellow rather than dark amber.
