Jinsi ya kukokotoa Heart Rate Recovery

Heart Rate Recovery ni nini?

Heart rate recovery (HRR) is the drop in HR in the first minute after stopping vigorous exercise. HRR < 12 bpm is abnormal and associated with increased cardiovascular mortality risk.

Fomula

HRR (1 min recovery) = Max HR during exercise − HR at 1 min after stopping; Normal: 12+ bpm drop in 1 minute; < 12 bpm suggests poor fitness or cardiac risk
MaxHR
Peak heart rate during exercise (Beats per minute)
HR1min
Heart rate 1 minute post-exercise (Beats per minute)
HRR
Heart rate recovery (Beats per minute)

Mwongozo wa Hatua kwa Hatua

  1. 1HRR = Peak HR − HR 1 minute after stopping
  2. 2Normal: ≥ 12 bpm drop in first minute
  3. 3Measure after reaching ≥ 85% HRmax
  4. 4Improves with regular aerobic fitness training

Mifano Iliyotatuliwa

Ingizo
Peak HR 168, after 1 min 145
Matokeo
HRR = 23 bpm — Normal; good cardiovascular fitness

Maswali yanayoulizwa mara kwa mara

Is heart rate recovery important?

Yes. Reflects cardiac autonomic function; vagal tone recovery. Poor HRR (< 12 bpm) associated with higher mortality risk independent of fitness level. Predictor of cardiovascular disease.

Can I improve HRR?

Yes. Aerobic training (running, cycling, swimming), meditation (vagal tone), reducing stress. Improvements seen in 4–8 weeks. Better fitness = faster HRR.

Why is my HRR poor?

Poor cardiovascular fitness, autonomic dysfunction (diabetes, neuropathy), beta-blocker use (masks HRR), deconditioning, chronic stress, sleep deprivation. See cardiologist if concerning.
