Heart rate recovery (HRR) is the drop in HR in the first minute after stopping vigorous exercise. HRR < 12 bpm is abnormal and associated with increased cardiovascular mortality risk.
Công thức
- MaxHR
- Peak heart rate during exercise (Beats per minute)
- HR1min
- Heart rate 1 minute post-exercise (Beats per minute)
- HRR
- Heart rate recovery (Beats per minute)
Hướng dẫn từng bước
- 1HRR = Peak HR − HR 1 minute after stopping
- 2Normal: ≥ 12 bpm drop in first minute
- 3Measure after reaching ≥ 85% HRmax
- 4Improves with regular aerobic fitness training

Câu hỏi thường gặp
Is heart rate recovery important?
Yes. Reflects cardiac autonomic function; vagal tone recovery. Poor HRR (< 12 bpm) associated with higher mortality risk independent of fitness level. Predictor of cardiovascular disease.
Can I improve HRR?
Yes. Aerobic training (running, cycling, swimming), meditation (vagal tone), reducing stress. Improvements seen in 4–8 weeks. Better fitness = faster HRR.
Why is my HRR poor?
Poor cardiovascular fitness, autonomic dysfunction (diabetes, neuropathy), beta-blocker use (masks HRR), deconditioning, chronic stress, sleep deprivation. See cardiologist if concerning.
