Fence Calculator
A fence calculator estimates the materials needed for a fencing project: posts, panels, concrete, rails, and fixings. It ensures you order the right quantity without expensive surplus.
💡
Tip: Set fence posts at least 600mm deep (one-third of total post length) in concrete for stability. In frost-prone areas, go 750mm to get below the frost line.
- 1Measure total fence length in metres or feet
- 2For panel fencing: Number of panels = total length / panel width (typically 1.8m/6ft)
- 3Number of posts = number of panels + 1 (posts go between and at each end)
- 4Concrete per post: typically 10–15 kg of dry mix for a 600mm deep, 300mm diameter footing
20m fence · 1.8m panels=12 panels · 13 posts · 13 bags concrete20÷1.8=11.1 → 12 panels
