How to Calculate Brick
What is Brick?
A brick calculator estimates the number of bricks needed for a wall or building project based on wall dimensions and the chosen bond pattern. Standard UK bricks (215×102.5×65mm) are the most common reference.
Step-by-Step Guide
- 1Measure wall length, height, and chosen thickness (half-brick, one-brick, etc.)
- 2Standard UK metric: approximately 60 bricks per m² for single-leaf walls in stretcher bond
- 3Add 5–10% for cuts and breakage
- 4Add mortar: approximately 1 bag of mortar per 70 bricks
Worked Examples
Input
Wall 5m × 2m = 10m² · stretcher bond
Result
630 bricks + 10% = 693 bricks
10m² × 60 = 600 + 5% waste
