How to Calculate Calories Running

What is Calories Running?

A calories burned running calculator estimates energy expenditure based on body weight, running speed, and duration. Running burns roughly twice as many calories per unit time as walking because both legs lift the body off the ground with each stride.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. 1Approximate rule: 1 kcal per kg per km (varies ±15% with speed and efficiency)
  2. 2More precise: Calorie burn = MET × body weight × 3.5 / 200 × minutes
  3. 3MET for running: 7.0 at 8 km/h, 9.8 at 10 km/h, 12.3 at 13 km/h

Worked Examples

Input
70kg runner · 10 km/h for 30 min
Result
~343 kcal
MET 9.8 × 70 × 3.5/200 × 30 = 360
