How to Calculate Capsule

What is Capsule?

A capsule is a cylinder with hemispherical ends. Volume = πr²h + (4/3)πr³ where h is the cylindrical height and r is the radius. Surface area = 2πrh + 4πr² (cylinder lateral + full sphere surface).

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. 1Total length = h + 2r (cylindrical part plus two hemispheres)
  2. 2Volume = π r²(h + 4r/3)
  3. 3Surface area = 2πr(h + 2r)
  4. 4A capsule with h=0 is just a sphere

Worked Examples

Input
r = 3 cm, h = 10 cm
Result
V = 395.84 cm³, SA = 301.59 cm²
π(9)(10 + 4) = 395.84
