The Burnout Assessment Tool used here is adapted from the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the gold-standard instrument for measuring burnout developed by Christina Maslach (1981). Burnout is characterised by three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation, and reduced personal accomplishment. It is recognised by the WHO as an occupational phenomenon (ICD-11).
